Article I. Name
The name of the Society shall be Societas Celto-Slavica.
Article II. Purposes
The purposes of the Society shall be:
1. To foster and develop cultural co-operation, research and scholarly
links between students, artists and Celtic scholars in Celtic-speaking
and other countries and people with academic and general interest in
Celtic in the Slavic countries.
2. To provide a forum for researchers in the subject area by organising
research conferences.
3. To provide a forum for cultural co-operation by organising cultural
events.
4. To publish the proceedings of the conferences and the works of scholarship
in the newly established journal Studia Celto-Slavica.
5. To publicise the works of art and literature exhibited at the Celto-Slavic
festivals on the Internet and in printed editions.
6. To disseminate information concerning Celtic Studies and Celtic
culture within the Slavic countries.
Article III. Membership
1. The membership of the Society is open to every one provided the
person seeks to foster and develop cooperation in the field of cultural
exchange and scholarly research between people with an academic and
general interest in Celtic in Celtic-speaking and Slavic countries.
2. Each member shall have one vote on each question arising at any
special or general meeting of the Society.
Article IV. Meetings
1. The Society shall normally meet at least once every three years
for general purposes. Special meetings of the Society can be scheduled
in exceptional cases.
2. At all meetings of the Society, decisions shall be determined by
consensus where possible or by a majority vote.
Article V. Organisational Structure
1. The Society will be coordinated by an Executive Council which includes
a President or Joint Presidents, and a Secretary.
2. The General Editors of the Journal shall consist of the President,
the Joint President and the Secretary of the society. The editor of
each individual volume of the journal shall be determined by decision
of an Executive Council.
3. Branches of the Society may be organised with the approval of the
Society to facilitate meetings of the Society members living in a certain
region.
4. The Executive Council shall serve for a period of six years in the
first instance and may be re-elected for a further six years.
Article VI. Amendments
This Constitution may be amended on a recommendation of the Executive
Council or on a recommendation signed by three fourths of the members
present at a general meeting of the Society or by a unanimous vote
of the members at a special meeting.
Article VII. Review
This document shall be reviewed every six years.
